I keep trying to be perfect and resist temptation but it fails. Does God want us to be perfect?

God wants us to be perfect but know we won't be, His Grace covers the gap
that however is not an excuse to sin

Let me be honest with you. Nobody on earth can reach perfection in this life. God has called us to be holy, not to be perfect. Heb 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Don't look for perfection, but look for God. Because once you get closer to God there are things you gonna find indecent do as a christian. Look for Him, and He'll give you strength to resist temptations. We are all sinners. Only Jesus was the perfect man to leave on earth. You've tried too hard. Just believe that Jesus is the one who guides you with the Holy Spirit and His will be done in your life.

Of course he does, but he doesn't expect us to do it overnight. Practice makes perfect.

God does not require the impossible, and moral perfection is not possible for any human being. God realizes this fact. But He does expect us to do our best, to try to break sinful habits, and especially to turn to Him, asking Him to heal our moral faults and give us His grace in times of temptation.

No one is perfect, and God goes not expect perfection from us. But, we can choose to control improper impulses. We don’t have to act on every urge we feel.

Yes , according to Mat. 5:48 Greek text . You can easily do it if you make a sincere covenant with the Father that you will always obey all of Jesus' sayings .

I never understood why the bible god judges us so harshly. Why does it seem like he hates us more than he loves? He knows that we are human, but he holds us to the standard of gods. Why create us as human with desires and passions only to tell us we're evil and deserve to be tortured for following them?
