Hi everyone.Five months ago I rescued a chinchilla from a fur breeder. He’s 9 years old and he has never eaten hay, just pellets.I tried to offer him different types of hay,but he’s not interested.Do you have any tips on how to get him back on an healthy diet?

At nine years old, he's probably pretty set in is ways. You could mix in timothy hay based pellets with his normal pellets, and of course just leaving hay in his cage so that he has the option. You could also try tempting him with hay based chinchilla treats. If none of that works, I would advise leaving him to it. He's only got so many years left, let him enjoy them and eat what he likes at this point. You might offer him some dried fruits and veggies, not only as a treat but to get some more varied nutrients in his diet.
