Are stock earnings always reported quarterly?


And when you see a P/E ratio for a stock, are you looking at the current stock price divided by the last quarter's earnings?

    PE is the last years earnings. Often the last trailing 4 quarters.

    Earnings are usually reported once a quarter for most public companies.

    Number of publicly traded companies are releasing their quarterly earning reports on daily bases also the shares of companies are releasing reports where market reacts date with latest reports.

    The value of an investor's stock portfolio is reported monthly. Earnings are increases in the value of stock held.

    Typically, yes. But, sometimes company pre-announce a beat, or shot-fall..

    P/E is current stock price over the last FY's earnings.
