    - she remarries

    - she returns "home"

    - she enters service as a servant

    - she sells herself into slavery

    - she begins working as a prostitute

    and...there are probably a dozen other quite reasonable possibilities that were not at the top of my head when I answered this.

    Like nowadays and at just about every time and place it depends on her social status, family connections or friends, and wealth (and staying as far as possible away from Caligula).
