In Linux Mint 18.1 is there a way to eliminate all need for passwords?

    Just to confirm, you basically are asking to remove the need to constantly elevate permissions.... well, just run everything under root.

    This is what Windows did before XP and *Nix made fun of them for it... and it's why windows vista was a major security upgrade (for separating root from "administrator") and adding in UAC... but sure... you can go ahead and run everything under root... just don't complain when you get hacked or get viruses.

    Heck, you could remove all passwords for root too...
