What makes a GPU compute-oriented vs. gaming-oriented?

For example, Nvidia was always considered gaming-oriented, while AMD's GCN architecture was considered compute-oriented. Now AMD's new RDNA archictecture is considered gaming-oriented just like Nvidia, if not better. What in the instruction set makes it more compute or gaming?

The GPU, is always Game-Orientated, it renders all graphics.

That quite clearly is not true. Why would AMD and Nvidia have compute-oriented cards for sale, such as Instinct and Tesla?

gaming focuses more on framerate rendering and something aimed at an architect would have ultra high resolution ..
