    A tax return is a form that you send to the government.

    It is not the money that the government sends to you.

    In its simplest form, tax returns are issued when the amount of money being withheld from your paycheck for taxes exceeds the amount you owe the IRS.

      Wrong answer. That is a tax refund, not a tax return.

    A perfect example how our public schools in America are failing us.

    Kid- "Mrs. Smith, how do taxes work?"

    Mrs. Smith- "Shut up and play the recorder. I want Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star complete by day's end. Then we'll play with a big, puffed up blanket outside."

    A "tax return" is a form that is filed with a taxing authority.

    A "tax refund" is a refund of overpaid taxes.
