What are the differences between Chinese mothers and Hispanic mothers? Same with dads?

    It has nothing to do with where they're from, you have to get to know them individually.

    There are no universalities. But Chinese couples of a certain age are used to having only one child (or maybe two if the Party allowed it) so they tend to dump all their resources into just those few kids in the hope they'll be successful enough to care for their parents in old age. In most Hispanic cultures the birthrates are higher so parents can't focus quite as much on each child. You don't hear a lot about Hispanic "tiger moms" (although I happen to know two of those here in L.A.). But generally speaking I think Hispanic kids tend to have a little more freedom from the parents' restrictive academic demands than do Chinese kids.
