You can use a voice recorder and play back for any recorded response, or ask for specific things to happen like making a noise or turning a light on or off, or if you have any ability they will communicate directly. Even if you are sensitive you may get feelings, images, words or other sensations as a response. With practice you can determine which is a response and what is your own thoughts and feelings.
