How does diversity help our nation? Specifically, how does a freedom-hating Somalia refugee turned Congresswoman benefit us?

The real question is why and how you would need to have this explained to you.

For one thing, she's been through the hell of a war-torn country, while we sit here spoiled and way too comfortable for our own good. She can remind us how fragile peace is, and how we shouldn't let hatred divide us as it has so many countries. Nothing she has said or done indicates that the "hates freedom".

It does not, and it never has.

It is a twisted way of saying multi-cultures being tolerated.

A closer look to immigration of masses shows that very few Melt in, or adopt. Most either set up a Ghetto (Chinatown, Polish town or Germantown, or Little Italy conclaves.) Minnesota for example is/was

primarily a grouping of White, Lutheran, Nordics (birds of a feather flock together) Just as the "Pennsylvania" Deutsch

It was/is believed that many persons have entered the country to destroy it from the inside, while becoming citizens or acting like citizens are truely still loyal to their homeland, or worse adverse political thinking. (aka Moles, Agents Provocateurs, .inside agent, etc.)

Destroy it from the inside? You mean, like Europeans did to the Americas in the 17th century?
