Depending on a few factors such as: Wither or not she was a "legal" roman citizen. What time period during the Empire is it. What is her social status, and what region does she live in. Because of these factors will determind what would happen. She could either keep all of her families lands, titles, and fortunes. Or she may lose it all and keep a small amount of coin. She may only lose half of it.

It's too hard to say without specifics as the laws and regulations were not always the same throughout the empire and it's history.

Ok, How about this. Let's say a foreign peasant and his wife visit Rome during the reign of Caligula. The husband dies leaving his wife stranded and stuck for cash. What would have happened to her?

Presumably she'd still have female relatives, and they would be inclined to help her. Of course her status would be a big factor - but your question is interesting.

Some women belonged to religious fraternities. Such a female would be in a much better position than someone newly enfranchised.

'Ancient Rome' lasted for more than a couple of years, you know. Laws and customs changed a lot over the entire period of several hundred years.

Depends on the period and other factors, for example her class. She might become a ward of the Empire. On the other hand if the male relatives had been executed as a result of some imperial whim and she was proved innocent she might be required to leave Rome and live in one of the provinces.

There is no correct answer unless you can fill in many more details.

Well she would be left with all the male relatives property. And if she had any brains at all she would very very quickly find herself a husband to get married to before everybody and his brother came by to try to take whatever they could from the woman.

That depends on the social status of the girl's family and her ethnicity.

If she was a Roman, then nothing bad, if she was from some barbaric tribe, well you can guess yourself.
