Yes I think its real, probably taken in the last week of his life. He became overly dependent on prescription drugs. Basically he had a personal doctor on a huge retainer so he could get absolutely anything he asked for at any time day or night, no way any ordinary person could do that. The problem with taking sedatives and sleeping pills is the more you take the less effective they become and the worse you feel, so he took more pills and stronger pills to try and feel better. His liver swelled up to 4 times its normal size and stopped processing fat so that he got into a cycle of putting on weight, then he got his doctor to get him more stronger pills, the same pills that were causing all his problems. Elvis was not a man to lie down and take a holiday, he never stopped working even when he was so obviously obese and physically struggling.Eventually the strain on his heart and other organs became too much. If he had the right people around him to slap some sense into him maybe things would have been different but he commanded so much respect and authority that nobody would dare question anything he did.
