Should I get tested for herpes ?

So I’ve been talking to this girl for a while and she has herpes (hsv1 vagina area) and hpv. We’ve been having sex with condoms and I haven’t gotten any symptoms. Should I get tested since I’m just going to be monogamous with her? (I’m a man and I know we can’t get tested for hpv)

The only really reliable test is blister fluid from an active lesion for the virus nucleic acid. A blood test for antibodies is really not helpful. So no, I would not recommend getting a blood test.

  • Yes you should be getting tested routinely for herpes.

You can get herpes and have no symptoms of it.

Herpes and HPV are not the same thing.

HPV is warts, as far as I know there isn't a test that men can take for HPV.
