Gravy is a type of sauce, but sauce is not gravy. Gravy involves taking the juices from the meat you cooked and making a thicker sauce-like substance.

what are you calling "it'??
If its meat based and made from the drippings of cooking meat, its gravy and goes on biscuits, potatoes or rice.
If its NOT meat based, made with tomato, pesto or cheese, goes on pasta, or other foods, I call it sauce.
