How can someone deal with severe pain (such as appendicitis or kidney stones) without pain killers?

Of course anyone who suspects they have appendicitis or whatever should go to the hospital, but let’s assume the wait is really long or the staff won’t give them pain killers.

The same way people did before there were painkillers. Either stay awake or pass out. Screaming is optional.

Walk up to the nearest wall and start banging your head as hard as you can into that wall. It should be possible to knock yourself out.
