Why is our Prime Minister insulting Donald Trump while at the same time supposed to be protecting our trade agreements with Trump?
- Obi Wan KnievelLv 76 months ago
Because insulting Trump is a) easy to do and b) wins support from just about anyone except the most hardcore conservatives in Canada. That's why.
And guess what... the hard-right conservatives would never vote for Justin's party in a million years, so he doesn't need to worry about losing their support.
As for the trade agreements, that's called doing the bare minimum at work. We have thousands of individual trade agreements with the USA, all of which are constantly negotiated and renegotiated (and renegotiated some more), and Justin's job is to speak in favour of his country whenever any of them go public. These agreements stay in place no matter who won the last election in either country, and they'll be there long after Justin and the Bad Orange Man have retired. Or been kicked out of their respective offices, whichever comes first.

The Orange Fraud is an insult to the Universe. Canada has but ONE trade agreement with the U.S. That's the N.A.F.T.A., which took force in 1992. That lot of tripe O.F. wanted so badly hasn't been ratified by any of the three countries to which it would apply. The odds are high that it never will be ratified. For all his pompous bluster & posturing, he'll have damaged relations with the closest partners the U.S. has, & wasted all kinds of time & money. Typical O.F. Like a King Midas in reverse gear, every single thing he touches turns to dung.

Trade Agreements are usually made between COUNTRIES, not individuals. So, and I no longer live there although I was there when Justin Trudeau's dad was in office, I imagine your PM can insult Trump as much as he likes, and should, without necessarily jeopardising any inter-country Agreement?
I am assuming as this q. is in Other Canada, this is about the Canadian PM?????

He is not insulting. Trump is a MORON

Justin is in full election mode for the next Canadian Election. Most Canadians think Trump is an idiot, a bully, don't like him or all off the above.
If Justin criticizes Trump - he wins more votes
If Justin stands up to Trump - he wins more votes
If Trump criticizes Canada or Justin - Justin wins more votes
If Trump threatens trade - Justin wins more votes.

Our national joke has fully earned the right to be kicked around, so there's that. Sort of a national pastime, any more.
TD? Well sure, lots of people don't GET the joke, which is the true tragedy of it all.

He didn't refer to Donald Trump, just to Canada. Donald Trump who knows he made a fool of himself, screams at everyone right now.

Donald Trump's racism shouldn't go unchallenged.
And the UK only has trade agreements as an EU member; it doesn't have anything separately (nor can it arrange anything until it leaves the EU, which could then take years)

Justin Trudeau is a moron. He's going to get May, 2019 Australian election styles coming his way.

On the off chance that you haven't clued into the obvious yet; your Prime Minister is a virtue signaling idiot.
