What SSD type supported by HP Elitebook 840 G1?
I want to install a SSD on my HP 840 G1. But not sure which SSD is compatible with the port available on Motherboard. I thought it's mSATA but some one told me it's 42mm M.2 2242 type SSD. But that type of SSD is B type i.e. has two gaps on the connector. However the motherboard has one gap. I'm really confused.

2242 can be in both B and M key, though M-keyed ones are pretty rare.. The images I've seen online of this laptop show an M-keyed slot. You can use a double-keyed card in an M-keyed slot; it just won't be as fast.
Short answer: Any 2242 card with two gaps will work.

the G1 series used a standard SATA SSD drive.
the slot you saw was probably for a WIFI card. they used to have extra slots for that in the old days.
newer models like the G3 or others may use M.2, but not the G1.
just do a google search for the model's specs and see...
