Why is everyone so against them?

Same reasons surgeons are against using steak knives. Besides the fact you cannot sterilize a piercing gun, and every piercing with create a microspray of blood particles, and that wiping it down an alcohol swab isn't guaranteed to remove all debris and microbes.....just stab a needle through a piece of paper, then do the same thing with a fork tine. That's the difference between an ultra-sharp beveled piercing needle, and the slightly sharp post of a piecing stud. One slices flesh cleanly, one rips through it roughly, meaning longer healing time and more risk of complications.

Guns are never suitable. Even for earlobes. They cannot be sterilised and cause a lot more harm on surrounding tissues. It’s very hard to get a decent level of accuracy and more likely to get infected. NO professional place uses guns. If you have a cartilage piercing with a gun it can shatter surrounding tissues and cause deformation/disfiguration. And the same gun is often used for multiple piercings on multiple people.

If you want a piercing remember to take safety precautions. They are a commitment.

They cannot be steralised, and apart from lobe piercings they are completely unsuitable.

9/10 the person weilding it is untrained in its use and often doesnt follow basic hygiene rules think pulling on a disposable glove is all the situation needs
