How you are feeling is absolutely normal. I know you’ve probably heard it before, but it’s true: you have so much time to decide who you want to be. You’d probably much rather have a job you love than one you picked when you were seventeen just to avoid “feeling like a dead end”. I know you said you don’t want to go to college, but for a frame of reference: on average, college students change their major at least three times over the course of a college career. There are so many options for you, and you are in no rush to decide now. If you don’t want to go to a university, there’s trade school, community college, internships that turn into careers, or no further education at all (which is also perfectly fine, despite the stigma surrounding it). All you need to worry about right now is figuring out who you are. Take up some new hobbies, meet new people, join new communities and find your passion. Who knows? Maybe it’ll turn into a career you love.
