    v2 = vo2 + 2as

    v = final velocity = 0 .. remove from equation.

    vo = initial velocity = 32 m/s.

    a = acceleration ( deceleration in this case ).

    s = distance. That is, the total distance including the skid.

    Rearrange to solve for s:

    2as = -vo2

    s1 = -(vo2/2a)

    s1 = -{32^2/2(-8)}

    s1 = 64m on dry road.

    s2 = {32^2/2(-3)}

    s2 = 170.7m On ice.

    Δs = s2 - s1

    Δs = 170.7 - 64

    Δs = 106.7m
