Boy, the way Glen Miller played.

Songs that made the Hit Parade.

Guys like us, we had it made.

    Those were the days

    Didn't need no welfare state.

    Everybody pulled his weight

Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.

    Those were the days

And you knew where you were then

Girls were girls and men were men.

Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.

    People seemed to be content.

    Fifty dollars paid the rent.

Freaks were in a circus tent.

    Those were the days

    Take a little Sunday spin,

Go to watch the Dodgers win.

    Have yourself a dandy day

That cost you under a fin.

Hair was short and skirts were long.

Kate Smith really sold a song.

I don't know just what went wrong

    Those Were the Days

It was the National Socialist party. They freed the German people from the slavery of the Treaty of Versailles.

Slavery was made illegal over 200 years ago. I think Thomas Jefferson was president at the time and had no allegiance to either party we see today.

    So neither Democrat or Republican.

Although Jefferson did promote a democracy in USA politics so maybe it was Democrats.

    Republicans came along later.

Is it not embarrassing to have an English guy telling you your history?

It was the party that was liberal then. The conservatives fought for slavery.

I don't and I have never met anyone who does. What you posted is a desperate act of someone who knows they have lost.

Sweetheart, if you are not aware that the Democrat and Republican parties of today are not the parties of the 1850s, you are incredibly ignorant and poorly educated.

It's really amazing how dumb the little Trumpkins are on this subject. They evidently never grasped anything in their American history classes -- assuming they actually took any such classes.

    It appears they did not.

How the times have changed. Today it's Republicans who are the racists.

I'm a Republican and I'm not racist. In fact MLK has been my hero since I learned why he was marching at about 9 or 10. I never understood why black people wouldn't have the sane rights and I have never understood hating someone I don't know.

Guess which party opposed the civil rights act of 1964. It wasn't the Democrats.

Actually it was dum bass. Check the vote counts. The Republicans voted for it in higher percentages. You can't go by total numbers because there were far more Democrats in Congress. Not only that Republicans tried to pass meaningful civil rights under Eisenhower. Democrats blocked it.

    Doesn't matter.

    Ironically, IT IS now.
