It reminds me of something I learned years ago which comforted me greatly. I was so shy and insecure that I believed everyone was watching me and waiting for me to make a mistake. I finally realized that I didn't need to worry about what people thought of me because they didn't. People are fascinated by themselves first and anything else second. It really is a form of conceit to imagine that people are always watching you or to think you're that important.
