how many carpet titles could cover a room of 17x20?
- InLv 76 months ago
Carpet tiles come in 12x12, 18x18, 23.5x23.5, and 24x24. Pick your preference and do the math. Buy a couple of extras to replace any damaged ones.

how big are the carpet tiles? 12x12? 16x16? 20x20 .... you can do this math ... just multiply out the area of the room [340 sq ft], divide by the sq ft of a single tile, and add ten or so to allow for trimming loss

17x20/decimal percentage of carpet in relation to foot. For example a 6" by 6" carpet square = 17x20 =340 /.5=680. One foot tiles =340. This is ideal. Generally speaking, with one sq. ft. tiles you may need 37 (17+20) tiles to cut if measurements aren't exact for a total of 377.

That depends on the size of carpet tile. They're available in sizes from 12x12 up to 12x36, including some wonky sizes like 19.7x19.7 inches (50x50 cm) so there is no single answer for your question.

Depends on the size of the tiles.

340 if they are 1 foot squares.

What size are the tiles?
If they are 1 foot by 1 foot,
then it will take at least 17*20=340 of them
I say, "at least",
because you may have to start at the center of the room
(You will have to check whether best to start with
a single centered tile,
an edge between a pair, turned one way,
or 90 degrees,
or the four corners of four tiles in the center)
and cut tiles, all around the edge,
to avoid ending up with tiny strips along the edges.
That will waste a few tiles.
By the way, it is usually cheaper
to just buy a single piece of carpet,
off a roll,
than to buy tiles.

One, if the tile is 17 x 20. How big are your tiles? All carpet tiles aren't the same size.

How big are the carpet tiles and how many layers of tile?
