Is a knife less lethal than a gun?

Does a gun kill more than a knife? When you get stabbed! Is the bleeding slow?

If you compare the homicide rates in New York and London, UK, you can see that there is no difference.

London has banned guns so most of the murders are by knife.

In the hands of someone who knows how to use them, a gun is no more or less lethal than a knife.

One well placed stab or slice can kill just as quickly as a well placed shot.

The difference is that it’s easier to train someone how to use a gun than it is to use a knife. There are more places where a gun in unskilled hands can do lethal damage than there are places a knife in untrained hands can.

I know, I had someone try to stab me and fail.

Also there is the fact that a gun can be used at longer ranges and it’s easier to fire multiple rounds than it is to make multiple strikes.

Depends. Maybe your gun is not loaded and you just throw it and your aim is bad. Maybe your knife is a weeny little pocket knife and you are standing 50 yards from your opponent. There are variables to be considered.

No. There are lethal stabbings and cuts. There are lethal shots. And of course there are non-lethal stabbings, cuts, and shots.

The knife requires proximity the gun doesn't. The knife requires more physical and psychological effort. The gun can kill several people easier and faster than a person with a knife.

So, the gun can cause more damage, more lethality, but don't underestimate a knife. One good plunge to the chest wall or slice of arteries of the neck and you are going down probably dead or bleeding profusely.

It depends entirely on where, on your body, you're shot or stabbed.

To a single person? Not particularly.

To a group of people? Certainly. A person with a gun can shoot many people in the time it would take to stab one person.
