Why are ovens in the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE so difficult with the timer thing you have to push some way to turn them on?

I am in the Northern Hemisphere and I just finished using an oven that you have to push the timer to set it.
It is probably a "safety" thing so the timer can not accidentally be set or the time changed easily.
I doubt it is a Northern or Southern hemisphere thing just a manufacturer thing.

Because everything down there spins in reverse. It's physics....very complicated.
