Can chickpeas give you food poising? And should I take time off of work ?

I left a chickpea curry out overnight and most of the day (covered in tin foil) and I have eaten a portion. A few hours later and I have diarrhoea and my stomach is making the craziest noises I also have the shivers.

At room temperature they can start fermenting. Go home and drink a lot of water between trips to the bathroom. It does not sound serious.

If you cooked it yourself, next time cook more thoroughly to makes sure it is hot all the way through, and add more spices. My guess is that whoever cooked it did not heat it thoroughly or cook it for long enough.

Yes, you can, not just from left food out of the fridge, but even before that if the food has salmonella in it.
