I try running chkdsk c: /r /f /v and the computer tells me I have to restart. I restart and the screen goes black.?

I also tried to get to boot into safe mode using msconfig and the screen goes black. Is there any way to fix this?

Chkdsk is for disk checking. The black screen seems to be your OS having issues.

    1) Run a repair (not restore) of the OS and this should give you a better boot.

    What's the issue?

It's likely easiest to reinstall Windows/Operating System if there is software issues.
