Does a bridesmaid always write down a list of gifts received at a bridal shower?

    Someone does.. not the bride.

In order for the bride to properly thank people, it is a very wise idea for someone to jot down the gift and the gift giver on a piece of paper. Sure, cards to accompany gifts, but often the cards get separated from the gift and that leaves the bride guessing who gave her what.

A bridesmaid can certainly take on the task of listing the gifts and the giver, but really, anyone can who is willing to do so.

It is a good idea to do so.

Someone usually does but it should be known who will be doing it.

That's usually the best way to figure out how to write the thank you notes, yes.

That's not her job or responsibility - but a bridesmaid might if asked to do so.

A bridesmaid doesn't have to do ANYTHING at a bridal shower. Keeping a list of who gave what is NOT one of a bridesmaid's "duties". A bridesmaid doesn't even have to ATTEND a bridal shower, is she doesn't want to do so.

It doesn't have to be a bridesmaid, but someone has to do it.

No. Someone should take on this task, but it is not an "official duty" of a bridesmaid. It is useful so that the bride can write thank-you notes and know who gave her which gift. Usually the HOST of the shower asks someone to do this in advance and provides a pad of paper and a pen. I suppose today, you could take down the data on a smart phone.

Someone does, but not necessarily a bridesmaid. It can be anyone. This is done for your thank you cards so you match the gift to the right person.
