Who defeated the Nazis, Americans or Soviet Union?

Britain, Russia and the US all worked together to defeat the Nazis. You seem to be one of those Americans who underestimate the amount of work the British did. Britain virtually held the Germans from achieving their goals for 2 years while Russia and the USA did everything they could to stay out of the war. Britain went to war voluntarily because they saw the danger the Nazis presented in Europe while the USA and Russia were forced into the war by the Nazis declaring war on them. Britain prevented the Germans from taking over their county which if they hadn't America would have had no friendly country in Europe to base themselves to fight Germany from. Britain prevented Germany and Italy from controlling North Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East preventing them from getting hold of unlimited oil supplies. Britain sank the virtually unsinkable super battleships Germany had which if let loose in the shipping lanes would have done huge damage, and at the time likely were the only country that had a navy capable of destroying them. Britain destroyed the German atomic bomb project the Germans had at the early stages of the war well before the USA were working on theirs. The British broke the supposed unbreakable enigma code used by the Germans which supposedly shortened the war by 2 years. Britain also invented radar which they shared with America and their radar was the best in the world throughout the war. They did all this and more for over 2 years before America was drawn into the war.
Once the Americans arrived 2 and a half years later the US flew a lot of bombing missions to destroy German war manufacturing but so did the British who had been bombing Germany for over a year by the time the US forces turned up. The British developed special heavy bombs capable of destroying dams and underground facilities no US bomb could do and no US plane was able to even carry. Until 1944 the American army did little in Europe waiting for D-Day. They did fight with Britain to overtake Italy and a little in North Africa with the British. On D-Day American forces were only 40% of those storming the beaches of Normandy only fighting on 2 of the 5 beaches invaded. British Commonwealth forces did the other 60% of the fighting.
Up until the beginning of 1944 only the US Air Force was really fighting the Germans while the rest of the US forces waited for the invasion of Italy and D-Day. All this time Britain was organising resistance fighters in Europe to keep the pressure on Germany, and doing commando raids against German targets.
It was largely Russian and British troops that beat the Nazis with help from the USA. The USA played an important role in beating the Germans but the British did a lot more but just weren't strong enough to do it on their own. Do you think if the British weren't there the US forces could have successfully invaded on D-Day with a force of less than half who were there doing the same thing on the same day. It was the combined work of all 3 against the Nazis that overpowered the Germans and finished the war. America performed brilliantly in the Pacific war and it was mostly their efforts that finished off the Japanese, but countries like Britain, Australia and New Zealand were also there fighting the Japanese so America did not do it all on their own there either.
America was not the major player in the war in Europe and I would say Britain and Russia were the main ones there with help from the USA. American movies tend to make it look like the US forces were the major force in Europe but the fact is they weren't. War movies like the Great Escape make it look as so Americans were the main reason the prisoners escaped but the real fact is the American POWs were not amongst the escapees. I can understand why so many young Americans believe the yanks won the war in Europe with the American war movies showing Americans doing things where no Americans were even present. American Generals took a lot of credit for Americans where in fact British Commonwealth forces under their command did a lot of the work.

The Allied forces won the war but the Soviets did and hit the hardest they could.

It was a collaboration. The Soviets destroyed the Nazi war machine on the ground, the British destroyed it in the air. ( the Americans were almost alone in the Pacific ) and the Soviets British and Americans drove the Nazid6 back into Germany and finished it.

Russians (not the Soviet Union)
you need context in that to make reasonable conclusion
the Russians (not the Soviet Union) were in the group of nations fighting the Germans and others Axis
the Soviet Union was a assemblage of nations Russian failed to withdraw from after WWII thus creation of the USSR or Soviet Union from the beaten down people the Nazis originally occupied.
if the USA had not provided weapons and money as well experts to fix oil wells etc fr Russia and left the Russians to fight on their own The Europe we saw after WWII would be very different and no cold war would have existed. there would never had been a east Germany for example.
but there was huge effort to defeat the axis by all and the idea was to force the Axis powers to fight on multiple fronts not allowing them to focus on the western front.
for the most part the NAZIS were winning until the USA joined the fight
and realize Americas can include Canada and Mexico and all south america THE question and answer is
YES THE USA made the difference in the win
DID you know there was a LARGE SCALE war in south america at the same time ? with a whole other band of nations fighting?

It's not either or.
The Soviets fought the Germans longer, and suffered the most casualties against them, but they would not have been able to make those stands without the monetary, food, and military equipment support the US provided. Moreover, the Anglo-American alliance drew a significant portion of the Nazi's best aircraft, tanks, units and leaders. Remember that Rommel was in the desert with Tiger tanks and a large German force when Stalingrad was liberated? Remember that the Nazis scoured the Eastern front bare in order to launch Operation Citadel, known as the "Battle of the Bulge?" Remember that the Nazi effort in the air was almost entirely consumed with defending Germany against Anglo-American bombers from 1944 on?
It's not an either or situation.
