What's outside reality is pretending that everything is wonderful. What's inside reality is not cursing your luck when things don't go as planned and looking for the possibilities in the new situation, using your imagination and making lemonade out of all the little lemons life gives you every day. This is how to be "lucky."
On a bad day, counting your blessings and remembering times when you succeeded is within reality and a winning strategy.
When you feel a bad mood come on, look at the thought that came just before it. Chances are it was false or otherwise useless. Let the negative thought go and replace it with two positive thoughts.
"Ambition requires attention to details, a perseverance that recognizes more than one path, and humility."
- Chinese proverb
"To have laughed often and much; to have won the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to have earned the appreciation of honest critics and endured the betrayal of false friends; to have appreciated beauty; to have found the best in others; to have left the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
