Do I have to renew my SSN if I'm renewing my EAD?

    SSN do not change they are permanently yours until you die

    Your SSN is fixed and immutable and doesn't ever need to be renewed.

    USA social security numbers are permanent and do not change. You may or may not need to notify the SSA of any status changes. If you are not sure then go to a SSA office in person and ask.

    I think you are asking whether you have to notify the social security office of your EAD renewal. The answer is maybe. If your EAD had the words "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION", then you need to inform them that your EAD was renewed. Otherwise your SS number will come up as not valid for work when an employer puts it into the system.

    You also need to inform social security if you become a permanent resident or naturalise as that changes the benefits you are entitled to.
