Can't keep track---
the numbers keep changing.
Several hundred, I suppose, but I can't see any good point in it.
More channels = less worthwhile programming on any of them.
We had 12-channel cable in the 1960s and 1970s.
One of those channels was a Mexican outlet,
so we really had only 11 to choose from, consisting of
2 NBC, 2 CBS, 2 ABC, 1 Metromedia, 1 Chris-Craft, and three wild cards.
That was more than enough.
