If the media approved of Trump as much as they approved of Obama, would Trump have a much higher approval rating?

The U.S is more prosperous than ever. Yet, 42 percent of Americans strongly disapprove of Trump (See: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/pol... ).

I didn't vote for Trump. Yet, considering his performance, the positive outweighs the negative by a wide margin. What is there to "strongly disapprove of?" Is vehemently anti-Trump media coverage the root of the problem?

Some media sources focus more on statistics. They'll continue to use words to bash Trump, even when the statistics are favorable. Rasmussen and The Washington Times tend to be more favorable to Trump. Every other serious news outlet is against him.

Well, if there were any reason for them to, sure.

That's the real problem, isn't it?

Incidentally, if you're ACTUALLY baffled at why people "strongly disapprove" of Trump, read @Enguerarrard's answer.

A President is more than just what happens in the economy while he's in office.

Trump has done nothing good for the economy. Every economic indicator is following the trajectory they followed for the last 6 years of the Obama administration. In fact, job gains slowed for a couple weeks following his tax cuts as corporations reevaluated their plans.

No. If Fox News and rightwing sources approved of Trump as much as they approved of Obama, Trump's approval rating would drop drastically among conservatives.

The media spends very little time talking about the strongest economy ever, and too much time on he said she said BS.

Some people have a higher standard for the office of the Presidency than whether the Dow Jones is up that day.

Actually, that's not true. The first rate increase after the recession came in late 2016, before the election. And they increased rates because they understood the economy had become strong enough to support it.
The last increase was eight months ago.
      There's nothing "unfair" involved.
