Why were railways in northern Ireland run down in the 70,s 80,s and 90,s?

    No point in "investing" or rather subsidising as the IRA were blowing the rail lines /trains up.the Troubles brought more to worry about than rail subsidisation

    The reluctance of the government to invest in infrastructure. Some form of privatisation may have helped because despite all the flaws of the system in the rest of the U.K., there has been a lot of investment
