Communism in it's purest form benefits everyone. However, greed and corruption make it impossible.

Because it does not factor in human behavior. A system that requires perfection cannot work with imperfect people. Maybe someday we will evolve and become perfect and then we can achieve a perfect utopian society. As it is motivation is necessary for the distribution of labor in order to ensure an adequate contribution of the population. Even in our current socialist society we see the negative effects of a system that allows non-contributors to subsist while requiring of them only a negative contribution to the society. Homelessness at unprecedented rates, the homeless speaking of solutions like 'free' housing. Or put another way housing paid for by people that have to work for people that do not. Making the working class the slaves of the lazy class.

It's not wicked (as in evil). It's just a failed political and economic system.

It is totalitarianism and is typically brutal dictatorships. That means the state is all powerful and controls everything in society, including your thoughts, your religion, and your movements. Communist states are like big prisons and the population is controlled harshly. Human rights are ignored. People cannot get out easily even if they want to. Cubans have to try to escape using small boats to cross over to Florida, and East Germans had to risk being shot while climbing the Berlin Wall. A North Korean soldier who deflected was shot while he was trying to cross the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. People in Cambodia were sent to the fields against their will and millions died. Right now the Muslim minority is sent against their will to re-education camps in western China.

It isn't. It just isn't necessary at the moment after workers fought for concessions from their employers (fair pay, safe working conditions, no child labor, reasonable time off, weekends, an 8 hour work day, etc.). Socialism and communism achieved their original popularity because of horrific working conditions that people were subject to, and has since waned as workplaces have become more fair and equitable.

If you examine the problems with nominally socialist and communist states, they aren't traceable back to the writings of Marx and Engels.

The only thing that seems to count now is what pejorative label does one use in order to show which tribe they belong to.

No. I think communists and socialists legitimately believe that these things work and produce better outcomes than capitalism. I think they're horrifically wrong, but I believe that their intentions are good. Communism as an idea is a very nice sounding, utopian ideal. It just fails completely to correctly assess human nature,

It's not. The problems aren't with communism, the problems are with human nature.
