To stretch a spring a distance of 0.2m, 40J of work is done. what is the value of the spring constant k of the spring?

This question was not looking for VALUES it was looking at units.
A spring constant is a force / extension. ie the units MUST be N/m
B) is energy, C) has the wrong units for force entirely. D) is a force.
The only answer that is force/ distance is A).
To check the value E = 1/2 k x^2 -> k = 2 E / x^2 = 2 * 40 / 0.2^2 = 200 * 40 / 4 = 2000 N/m
PS if I had seen that you asked an almost identical question a little while ago I would not have written an answer.
It is one thing to ask. But unless you learn from the answer then there is little point.

lol i was just making sure. I did the problem myself and got the same answer as you.. Its a multiple choice a) 2K n/m b)8mxJ c)0.0005 m-1 kg-1 s2 d) 200 newtowns and e) no solution... i picked no solution
