What the heck does “lady driven” mean?

Is it supposed to convey that the vehicle is in better shape because it hasn’t been driven hard?

Or does it mean that the oil hasn’t been changed in two years, the brakes are worn out from being ridden, there’s all matter of scratches from jewelry and dings from fender benders, and it’s likely a boring base model with an automatic transmission and a loud paint scheme or graphic that’s aged as well as Gangnam Style and Miley Cyrus.

They are trying to convey it means the first one, but it actually means the second thing.

Technically, it means that it was owned by a woman. Salespeople hope that you'll take that to mean that the car has been babied and maintained meticulously, but it usually means that the car has been neglected, and may or may not have been in a fender bender or two.

Salespeople use that term to make potential buyers think the vehicle was gently driven and treated well. In reality, it means the vehicle has been driven hard, has numerous scratches and dents, and was either poorly maintained or not at all. A lady-owned vehicle that went 30,000 miles without an oil change is not unheard of.

It means the same as 'One Careful Owner'.

Of course they don't mention the 9 careless drivers in the careful owner's family.

It means you can sniff the drivers seat jojo.

If car salesmen use the term it must be effective. Not all are as perceptive as you.

Presumably been driven more gently than a 19 year old punk who hot rods it everywhere he goes.

I’ll say it. It’s never been maintained. One sister had a car that ran out of windshield fluid and she never bothered to refill it. Another sister doesn’t even bother to bring it in for maintenance unless her husband brings it in. Mom doesn’t even bother. And of course, anyone that watches The Big Bang Theory knows that penny’s car had the engine light on and she ignores it until it wouldn’t start.
