If some one buys an intellectual property from some one else can they then claim they created it?
For example, lets say disney buys starwars and claims they created luke skywalker, is this legal?

Disney paid for the Star Wars franchise and has never ever tried to take credit away from George Lucas for his creativity. Intellectual property is bought and sold all the time. That's why it's called "property" and not just 'some guy's idea'.

No but if the contract to buy the intellectual property indicates the work as being "Work for Hire" or "Work Made for Hire" the buyer has virtually the same rights as the original author.

They can claim whatever they like, but it doesn t make it true.
It is possible to negotiate a contract which allows the purchaser to claim all rights, including the right to claim they created it, so the creator could not sue them, but the truth is still the truth.
MY question is if its legal to claim it if not outlined in the agreement
i didnt claim they did, it was an example stupid
