How would a tin foil hat protect you from aliens?

Ahhh. The aluminum foil hat was originally touted as a shield from government brain scanning waves and others trying to read and control your mind.
In 2012, it was show that it actually makes it easier to thought track.
It has become a sort of mocking symbol of paranoia and conspiracy theory advocacy.
In other words, anyone with a tin foil hat is a conspiracy theory nut and in the case you refer to believes there are aliens among us from other worlds.
Medical research has determined that Conservatives have a high activity in the "fear" center of the brain.
They are afraid, they spread fear, they listen to fear rhetoric.
Give a Conservative an aluminum foil hat and mark it MAGA!

It wouldn't at all.

It won't but it might protect you from having to serve on jury duty when you show up for jury selection.

Mine is so large that if the aliens come for me, I can crawl underneath it and disguise myself as a harmless baked potato.

Tin does not work for that (and in hard to find --- most of the ones that i have seen are aluminium). You have to use a magnetic metal, Iron, Cobalt or Nickle. (Gadolinium is also magnetic but only uder 68 degrees F so will not work for a hat with a live person under it)

It keeps from using their gamma rays on your mind and prevents them from controlling your brain, gee, I thought everyone knew that

Pb works better than Sn when it comes to radiation.
