There may have been better uses of $4 Billion in 2012 and only Disney accountants track the full value, but there is enough to say it wasn't a bad investment.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) Cumulative Worldwide Gross: $2,068,223,624

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) - Cumulative Worldwide Gross: $1,332,539,889, 19 April 2018

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) Cumulative Worldwide Gross: $1,056,057,273

    Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) $392,074,197, 16 August 2018

There are hundreds of millions of dollars in production costs and marketing costs, but also merchandising revenue streams and licensing fees collections. There were TV spinoff shows produced also.

    DVD, Bluray, Digital sales

    Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

    LucasArts video games

Industry analysts believe Disney is a little bit ahead now, and the future is the real profit.
