    Geographically? Socially? The laws? The entertainment?

      The last witch trial ending in execution took place in England in 1716. Illiteracy was nothing like 100% and on the whole people weren't *that* religious.
      I'm not sure where bathing in their own urine comes from...

    an oppressive government perpetrating atrocities upon it's own people and even worse on the people of Scotland and Ireland... there is a show called Outlander on Netfix that is accurate in portraying some of that
