Would teleportation be as fast as the speed of light or faster than the light?

Neb's description is the only valid one. And that's not true "beam me up Scotty" teleportation. Why? Because the original is destroyed when it is duplicated at the receiving end of the so-called teleportation. Put in practical terms, Capt. Kirk, the original, would be destroyed when "beamed up" using quantum entanglement. The Enterprise would have an exact duplicate Kirk however.

Quantum teleportation uses both entanglement and normal communication (like radio waves). You must have both. So the process is at the speed of light or less. Never faster.

It would involve a "Space jump" so it would be instantaneous. In HUT (Holographic Universe Theory). All matter particles truly exist at a "higher reality" where there is no SPACE Between them. Our 3D universe is a "Lower reality" construct of our human PERCEPTION.
Just as an EM wave at a given frequency would be seen as RED LIGHT, for example, we perceive waves attributes of MATTER as Positions in a 3 Dimensional space----The "illusion" is so "perfect" because we are perceiving the particles in our bodies in the same way too.
If these wave attributes of matter that determine 3D position could be changed, they would immediately move to the part of 3D space that matched the new settings.-----If we can change these wave attributes for people and space ships we would have INSTANT space jumps---effectively, "teleportation". This HUT theory is how Bohn, Einstein's Protégé, explained Quantum entanglement BTW. As there is no space between particles in the "Higher reality", they are actually in direct contact with each other-----even though in our 3D world, they might appear to be separated by light years.--so when one reacts, so will the other causing the "spooky motion at a distance".

The only so-called teleportation that we know exists is quantum teleportation which has been demonstrated numerous times by experiment. This generally involves only single particles.
Quantum teleportation uses two mechanisms to ‘reconstruct’ an identical particle in a new location. Those two mechanisms are entanglement, which is not limited by light speed, and conventional transferral of information whether at light or below light speeds (you could actually just e-mail the information). You have to have BOTH communication mechanisms to reconstruct the identical particle.
This mechanism is wildly impractical for anything more than a couple of particles.

If you could somehow transmit the actual matter then it would be way, way, way slower than the speed of light.
Energy considerations dictate this. As does acceleration, deceleration etc.
If something could be analyzed and rebuilt at the other end ( which it cannot be ) then the transmission would be at the same speed as light. But the quantity of information needed is so great as to render the time of transmission prohibitive.
Using the best encoding we know it would still take millions of years to transmit sufficient information to rebuild a living animal.
And that only if we could bypass quantum mechanical limitations.
So the transmission being as fast as light means that the information, at a point 100 light years away, would START to be received in 100 years. Then millions of years after that to get the entire buffer of knowledge to recreate the animal.
Of course you have the "rip van winkle" effect. That the recreated being would not have changed during this transmission. So on being recreated then no time for them would have elapsed. They would remain just as they were at the moment of being scanned initially.

It would have to be faster than the speed of light (tachyons). But, like someone said, according to Einstein's special theory of relativity, things can't travel faster than the speed of light. However, that theory only stand so long as nothing is found to be faster than the speed of light. If something is found to move faster than the speed of light, then that theory will be thrown out, like many theories before it have been thrown out due to evidence that verifies the null hypothesis.

According to Einstein, it is not possible to travel faster than the speed of light. No one has ever proven that anything can do that. As an object with mass travels faster and faster, it becomes heavier and heavier, so that it will take a lot more force and energy to accelerate it further. That is why no object with mass can ever travel faster than the speed of light or even equal it. Of course, some scientist somewhere may discover that it is indeed possible to do so, but for now, it is simply not possible according to what we know about the universe.
