Would most corporations rather subsidize employee healthcare than to lose that expense, but have employees who can quit and keep healthcare?

I suspect employers are rather ambivalent about it. On the one hand, they pay about 80% of their employee's health insurance premiums, but on the other hand, that's counted against total employee compensation. If that cost were shifted to employees or to taxpayers, then employees would undoubtedly demand higher salaries to compensate.
