does anyone seriously believe the united states intends to return astronauts to the moon and land them on mars?
seems we've been hearing this one for fifty years and it never seems to pan out. politicians love paying lip service to the space program because it gains them votes among constituents that care about such things, but they never back up their words with dollars. why should today be any different? in the prophetic words of pete townsend, "we won't be fooled again."

We might already be there---the moon, anyway. We have at least TWO "Secret Space Programs"---One based on conventional Technology (the robot mini-shuttle thing we hear about, for example) involving the military, etc. AND the UNCONVENTIONAL Secret Space program----Using really "way out there" tech like antigravity and even FTL travel.. Public Space tech using rockets has not changed in 50 years and is likely simply a "Dog and Pony show" to keep science and space interested members of the public happy and distract, while the REAL thing is going on in a SECRET venue.

Eventually, yes. After all, it was quite a bit less than 200 years ago that people thought humans could not stand speeds of over 35 mph (trains), and THAT has been disproved (humans routinely go as fast as 1000 km/h in airplanes and considerably faster than tht travelling to outer space.)

I believe they intend to, yes. I don't believe it will actually happen.

Yes. Why do you seriously believe it won't? The problem is that it is far more difficult to do a trip to Mars because it's so much further off.

Anyone deliberately not capitalizing the name of the country is a loser and a loon. LOL
We have been there before and we will be there again. LOL

The whole "we're gong to colonize Mars" thing is a farce
FFS the powers that be can't even get universal healthcare and agreement on climate change action, let alone terraform a planet without a life sustaining atmosphere.
Colonize Mars LMFAO.
