Is chromebook a high quality laptop? Does it really do everything the tv ads claim it does?

    In general chomebooks are not considered high quality. They run a custom OS which isn't compatible with windows or MacOS, they tend to have limited on board storage and store most of the data on the cloud. They can do basic computing tasks social media, videos, etc, but won't run games or Microsoft office programs

    Not sure what the ads claim they do, but they're basically dedicated web browsers, with the hardware adjusted to run browsers well. You can't really install 3rd party programs on them unless you want to do some Linux trickery.

    You're basically stuck to what you can do in a browser, which they seem good if that's your purpose.

    There are several companies making "Chromebook" computers. They run the Chrome OS as opposed to Mac or Windows. If using the web, email, cloud storage are what you use a computer for they work fine.

    Just find one that has the best "guts" inside. Most ram, fastest processor etc.
