The Cascadia Subduction Zone has a 40 percent chance of rupturing and producing a magnitude 8 earthquake over the next 50years is that alot?

    Yes, both are a lot. 40% chance in 50 years is very high

    and a magnitude 8 earthquake is very large.

    8.0 is definitely a lot. the 40% has been around for decades. {Mt Rainier is 100 years overdue.}
