My guinea pig has a fairly large hard lump on its rear end, a bald patch has formed around it too, does anyone know what this could be?

No, but the vet will. Take the poor creature to the vet and get it some proper treatment.

    Mange?

Maybe you should take it to a vet.

Do you see a small opening on it? If so, it’s probably an impacted grease gland. Give him/her a warm bath, then once a day hold a warm washcloth on it for a few minutes and then rub coconut oil on the opening. If it doesn’t start to shrink within a couple of weeks, consult a vet.

If there is a small hole, it could be a botfly. They like rodents I think. Take it to the vet.
