Very good for 'small game' not so good for varmints over 35 pounds and over 50 meters away- Raccoons and possums, badgers yes, coyotes no and wolves a gig NO-- might make wolf mad and big, bad, mad wolf will try eat you.. exception is use it a close range when it is only thing shootable to hand and critter is coming after you , use double taps and repeat 5 times if needed. M1 Carbine, SKS in 7.62x39 or a AR15 clone with soft points if you want a self loader for critters that can bite but don't out way you . Coyotes and wolves hunt in packs, repeaters with large magazines may be needed to protect flocks or humans, wild dog packs dangerous, .38 snubs not good enough for 4 -6 wild/feral dogs in Washington state- 2 shot but other 2 at least chew jogger leg , took down and ripped throat. SKS with rear dust cover peep sight or short Beeman 2.5 x scope popular for deer, wild dog, general utility in Wisconsin. Ruger 10/22 has been used on some feral dogs, coyote at close range, multiple shots --- wolf still protected species here.
