It's not a big deal to get a windshield out of a vehicle. watch the video on YouTube on how to replace a windshield on a 2001 Honda passport. You can get a decent used windshield out of salvage yard for $100 or less. It takes about half an hour to get the old windshield out using a wire and a blade.

After that it takes another 15 minutes to apply the black windshield adhesive that you can purchase in any auto parts store.then you in a friend lower the new windshield in place push it firmly into place and expect to go nowhere for about 4 hours. After 4 hours of sitting there you can put the rubber molding back into place. If you have and Auto Glass service do it for you they're going to want about $400 to do it.

As much as a local shop will charge you,

You think that someone in backwoods Alabama will charge you the same as someone in downtown Los Angeles?

Where in the world do you live? That has a direct influence on the cost.
