Did President Trump make you proud to be an American?

He was brilliant, evocative and did his best to bring Americans together. Now it is upto us to not be gadflies and hand-wringers. We just have to remember that no country is perfect and we cannot be apolgists for what things that happened 200 years ago. We have atoned and then some. Let us celebrate for what we achieved for ourselves and the world.

I couldn't agree more. Anyone who didn't at least shed a few tears during that speech has no soul.

Find the truth about the Ethiopian President Hailemariam Desalegn, Obama's friend and confidant---he gave glowing speeches about hsi "leadership". This tyrant and alleged assassin was finally chased out of office in disgrace last year after 25 years of crimes and bad rule after being accused by Internationa Criminal Court. So let us not throw rocks at the Glass White House! Thankfully hate-mongers are dwindling.

<Did President Trump make you proud to be an American?> No. I find him to be an acute embarrassment, just like the majority of my fellow Americans do.

<He was brilliant, evocative and did his best to bring Americans together.> First time for everything, I suppose. I didn't see his latest speech, but he is able to sound rational only when he woodenly read words on the teleprompter that others have written. Sometimes it's clear by the way he stumbles through them that it is the first time he has ever seen the speeches himself as he is parroting them. Let him go off-script, and then you see the real Trump.

If Trump really wants to "bring Americans together", he could hold some public speeches across the nation that aren't just red meat rallies for his MAGA hat wearers. Maybe appear in one of the Blue states for a change, instead of the never-ending campaign in Red states.

Am I proud to have as president an admitted p***y-grabber who shafts contractors who did work for him and thinks that his voters are so stupid that they'd look the other way if he committed murder?

Somebody who sucks up to murdering dictators, even saying he "fell in love" with one of them?

    Nope. Not a bit.

Apologists are people who say that there was nothing wrong with the things we did 200 years ago. I agree we should not be apologists, nobody should be defending slavery by saying it happened a long time ago or "nobody's perfect." No country should ignore the sins of it's past. That would be ignorant.

Source(s): I know what the word apologist means. Pro tip: It does not mean "someone who feels guilty and apologizes". It means the opposite of that.

For the first time in my life Trump makes me ashamed to be American. His words are meaningless. He swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, and craps on it every day.

I was already proud to be an American.

to put it in context Michelle Obama said she wasn't proud to be American until her husband was elected president.

talk about an unreasonable standard huh?
